About Me

“Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you.”

Dr. Seuss
Lynne at 9 years old

I’m Lynne, but I also answer to Mom, Gran and a few other less endearing tags.  I enjoy reading, writing, travel and food – if someone else cooks it.

Over the years I’ve worn many hats – from insurance underwriter to foreign missionary – homeschool teacher to online missions coordinator – shy introvert to reluctant adventurer.  I’ve traveled as far north as Iceland and as far south as Tasmania. I’ve listened to machine guns firing during an attempted coup in Africa and fierce winds howling during a devastating hurricane in the South Pacific. Both were equally scary. I learned long ago that adventures make great stories later, but they are generally rather uncomfortable while they happen. My current “adventure” is no exception to that rule.

Disclaimer

I do need to explain one small detail – why I am not giving my full name here. It is not because I am not a real person, or I’m embarrassed by the memories I disclose. Uncomfortable – definitely! Embarrassed – no! These events happened to me when I was unable to defend myself. So, I understand they were not my fault.

It is also not because any of this is made up. I wish it was. These repressed memories would be so much easier to deal with if they were a fantasy. Unfortunately, whatever I relate on this blog (other than names) will be real. I may omit details that I feel are too gruesome for others or painful for me, but what I tell will be true.

No, the only reason I wish to remain semi-anonymous in this blog is to protect some dearly loved family, family who do not currently know they are related to a sexual predator. That predator is now dead, so it serves no purpose for them to know. It would only hurt them. So, please, if you know me personally do not pass along information from this blog to them.
